Plans are those best kept ...

I start college again on Monday for another 12 weeks so I need to make sure I've got my exercise sorted (as well as my eating, snacks, study time, play time etc) because I won't have the luxury of time on my side with full-time work as well. Last term proved to be really tough for me and my eating got a little out of control. I was not organised at all so everything was that much harder. I got lazy at looking after myself due to being too "busy" and the vicious cycle kicked in. I'm not going to let that happen this term!

For the past several months (and my one saving grace), I've been training with a personal trainer and have gained so much from her and the other girls I have trained with. I have never sweated so much in my life and I've never felt this good physically either. I'm really going to miss them but I'm so much more confident in my ability to train myself now and my fitness has definitely improved. I'm even going to miss boxing and strangely enough, burpees! I'll go back in the Spring but for now, this is my basic plan for the next month. Blogging my plan will help me stick to it.

Mon: 5 km run (intervals) + (25 reps x 4 sets) sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges
Tues: 30-60 min yoga
Wed: 5 km run (intervals) + (25 reps x 4 sets) sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges
Thu: 30-60 min yoga
Fri: rest day
Sat: 5 km run (intervals) + 75 min jivamukti yoga
Sun: 75 min jivamukti yoga

So what about my ankle/knee problem then and the advice not to run? Well, I also got the advice from someone else that if I did run, I would build the muscles around my ankle/knees to support them more. I may not be a great runner but I sure don't get the same pain I used to because I really believe that the training I did with my personal trainer made all the difference. She made us run around a football field 1-4 times every morning as the warm-up alone, not to then mention the grandstand. Running up stairs is a real bitch and running down them is even harder! That, I will not miss.

I've got a lot of catching up to do in blogland now ...

The Act of Doing Crime

My man got published in Sex, Thugs and Rock & Roll! He is also the gatekeeper for Crimespace, a thriving online community for both readers and writers of Crime Fiction. I'm really proud of him and it's so inspiring to be surrounded by people who follow their dreams and passions. He's pretty damn good on a steel guitar too, playing the blues baby.

Dirt Diva has also been an ispiration of late with all her posts and quotes. This quote in particular rang a loud tune with me -

Do more than belong: participate.
Do more than care: help.
Do more than believe: practice.
Do more than be fair: be kind.
Do more than forgive: forget.
Do more than dream: work.
