Yoga Mats & Absinthe

While the boys are downstairs trying out and reviewing a hundred year old absinthe - yes, for real - it's quite an event for them, I'm upstairs researching yoga mats. I'm not a fan of the aniseed flavour so more for them!

So which mat to buy? I'm looking at either the Jade Harmony or the Manduka. I've always bought my mats from Yoga Warehouse but I keep hearing things about these other two. If anyone reading my blog has any experience with either of these two mats - what are the pros/cons you have experienced?

The obvious con for me would be shipping to Australia. To buy a manduka, the cost of shipping is almost the same as the cost of the mat which isn't cheap. The Jade Harmony seems to be cheaper.

Too bad you can't get a Manduka locally. It's an amazing mat - expensive, but very, very worth it.

I think you are one of the people that has seriously got me thinking about the Manduka! One of my teachers suggested I get one when in NYC later in the year and carrying it back on the plane - might just have to do that.

I also found a place that sells the Jade Harmony now - www.powerliving.com.au - so maybe I should just try both and make up my own mind :-)

OK, I am here to put a spanner in the works. I have a Jade Harmony and I freakin LOVE it. Granted, for the first few months it stinks of rubber, but it doesn't get slippery when you sweat, it's got no funny stuff in it, and (my favourite bit) it's a bit thicker than the mats I used before. Great if you have bony knees or something. Also, it's wearing very well. I have had it since Sept, and, barring time off for injury, use it ever day, usually multiple times. No real shredding happening yet. Love.
