It's hot, real hot in sunny Sydney and I so desperately want to go to the beach this summer. I love water, always have. It symbolises freedom to me. The problem though is that I haven't officially owned a cossie for the past 17 odd years. Shocking, I know. I did however purchase a brand spanking new one today!I'm not brave enough to do a bikini yet with my pasty legs/tummy so I've opted for a tankini and some board shorts. I'll wear the bottom part of the cossie underneath, just in case I do get brave. I obviously still have issues with my body even after losing the weight and to tell you the truth, I've still got a lot of toning to work on. When I lost the weight, my skin wasn't so pretty after being stretched so much, especially around my thighs. Urgh, thank you yoga for getting me this far, and to Linda for making me see the light!
The cossie is by Seafolly. I really wanted the one with the stripes on top but they sold out. This will do though. Now, will I actually go to the beach and wear it? I bloody well hope so. They're not exactly cheap.

Gorgeous!
Nice bathers!
How much does it suck that body image issues don't magically disappear along with the weight.
My skin is also a bit worse for wear in places after losing 40kgs. I like to cheer myself up by thinking I've saved myself some time if I ever breed - as i'm pre-stretched ;-)
My favourite bathers are Speedo 'sculpture' ones, they suck you in in all the right places, contain a shelf bra, and the design is flattering. I LOVE wearing them. They were only $40 because I bought them in winter.
GREAT Cozzie! You could even wear that like a singlet.
Awesome! Nobody doesn't have body issues in bathers, you can't hide a thing in them. But then again, once you're in the water, who cares :D
Yee-haa. Now as I said previously, get thee to the water and swim swim swim. Enjoy :)
Oh my Lord I live in fear of beaches and swimming pools, mainly because I am that kind of pale white that makes Nicole Kidman look good and no one else. That is a lurvely costume though!
It is so painful to me to pay so much for something that when I put it on I cringe! I haven't owned a swimsuit (USA speak for cozzie) in years, but my daughters must have three each summer. Yours is really cute!
That is a cool tankini and you will look smokin in it. Glad you stuck with the gypsy look!!
Oooh-la-la! Its so cute. Wear it with pride! You've accomplished something very important by losing weight. I'm so happy your allowing yourself to have some fun with it now. Yay!
Sare-Bear
Lovely! Have fun in it. You will look gorgeous.
I have the same issues. I made myself for the first time in 14 years wear a bikini this past summer to our vacation in Yosemite. I remember going in the river with my husband grabbing my stomach and feeling VERY self conscious. He thought I was being silly and looked good, but I didn't feel good. I felt like everyone was staring at me, then again having a huge back tattoo doesn't help. ;P
It's lovely Mary. Very you.
I went to the beach with Lachie and Jason (long story) yesterday and they were both in the water for ages. Me, I was in the shadiest part of the beach with a long sleeved T and a huge hat and sunblock from A to Z. No cossie for me - too pale, too fat, too embarrassed - maybe nexy year. I'm going to blog about my thoughts on the other people at the beach though - should be pretty funny. I love watching people!
D'oh - typo
:0(
sexaaay apparently a tan is supposed to make you looked more toned and cover stretch marks... maybe one of those spray ones to get things started? might help you feel a bit less out there on the beach?
OK, I have to tell you , you are really gorgeous, so could bare all with no problem. But I understand about the Big Cozzie Reveal: I don't love it either, and although I also have a somewhat skewed body image, my main gripe is with wearing what is basically bra and panties. In public. Voluntarily.
Can't wait to see you on the beach!
ohh cute cossie! I love that you aussies call them cossies too!! (togs here!)
Gooooooooo Mary !!! Straight to the beach and be proud of what you have accomplished !
I hope when you finally make it there you have a great time.
Me
