I have just watched a great interview with Elizabeth Gilbert and Oprah. Gilbert wrote an amazing book called Eat, Pray, Love and if you haven't yet read it, go and get it now!
The following is lifted from the Oprah website...
You can take your own spiritual journey every, single day. Liz has three daily rituals that anyone can do anywhere.
Start a journal and answer this question every morning: What do I really, really, really want? "You have to say really, really, really three times or else you don't believe it. And answer it truthfully and do it again the next day and the next and the next," she says. "Because you can't set your journey if you don't know what you're for."
Write down the happiest moment of every day in a happiness journal. "It's a way of reminding myself what really makes me happy and what doesn't," she says, "and learn and study and look back and see what is it consistently."
Refine your mantra. "I say refine, not choose, because we all actually already have a mantra. We just might not realize that we do. Whatever you repeat constantly in your head is your mantra whether you know it or not, and that is leading you on your way," she says. "So if you're repeating, 'I'm a moron, I'm an idiot, I'm a failure, I'm a jerk, I'm a loser,' it's your mantra. So decide whether that's working for you. … Maybe it's not and then maybe you might want to choose a different thing to try to say whenever you remember that you're thinking what you're always doing."
Liz says the most important thing to remember is that you can take your own spiritual journey without traveling the world. "You don't need to go and do exactly the things that I did," she says. "The only thing you need to do is ask yourself the questions I was asking myself. That's what you need to do. If you listen to that, I guarantee that you'll get your own journey and it will not look like mine. Although I do hope that it involves pizza."

Oh wow I love love love that book! Did you see it on Foxtel? Will it be on again tonight?
Very excited I am
x
Hey hon, it was on Channel 10 today but I will find out when we will be airing it on Foxtel :-)
Yet another great book suggestion - thanks!! That list is growing :)
Unfortunately, FOXTEL is 12-18 months behind Channel 10 (which in turn is behind the US) for Oprah. No chance of seeing this episode on telly until late in the New Year sometime due to licensing contracts.
I am off sick today and saw the same programme and am wondering when I can get into QBD to see if they have that book - it sounded like it is just what I need to read.
Have a great weekend and take care !

Hmmm pizza.......
I'm planning on doing some soul searching reading soon, i'll look out for this book. I just bought a book of affirmations called "There's more to life than sex and money" - I sure hope they're wrong! LOL.
... and my spelling has been atrocious lately, sorry!!
Thank you for following up gorgeous
:-)
it's on my list!!! just have to get the money to buy it now ;)
This is my all time favourite book and one which sits permanently on my bedside table. I originally borrowed it from the library and loved it so much I went out to buy my own copy. I am so sad that I missed the interview but if anyone hears about it being replayed let me know.
Thanks much for this post. I've heard so much about this book and countless friends have recommended it. I've even bought it as a gift for others, but have never read it myself.
Your post has inspired me to finally put it on my Christmas list :-) Now I'm wondering how does one have the $ to take off for a year traveling.....
the happiness journal sounds like a great idea, i think i might actually have to keep one of those.
Okay, this is really embarrassing but I bought that book awhile ago and still haven't gotten around to reading it! *hangs head in shame* I always end up reading late at night when I'm tired and I kind of don't want to spoil the book by reading it when I can hardly keep my eyes open! LOL.
See you soon beautiful
xox
i loved this book too! i especially love my copy of it as i bought it when i was in san francisco earlier this year and read it when i was travelling :)
i must admit, she drove me crazy for a while at the start of her book, she sounded so codependent and needy (i think that was when she was writing about her rebound relationship)! but i guess maybe that is because of what she was going through... once she started writing about her travels though, i couldn't stop reading!!! wish i could've seen the oprah episode - i might try and find it through some 'sources' ;)
oh yeah, i can't believe they are turning it into a movie and JULIA ROBERTS is going to star in it - i think she's kind of yuck... but of course i would go see it.
I loved that book! I read it twice, and I never read books twice!
Thanks for this post. I think it's given me a great way to start regaining some balance!
