Now I used to like pizza. I had some left overs yesterday and *blergh*. My lunch wasn't as good as it could have been and come to think of it, I had baked beans from a tin for brekky because I wasn't prepared. I felt yukky in the stomach and I don't think because of the detox but pizza ALWAYS makes me feel a little stressed in the stomach and it just sits in there for hours like I just ate it. I can really notice it now.
To avoid another day of not the best food, I rushed over to the organic supermarket in Glebe after work. I now have my "gluten free"muesli and rice milk for brekky, delicious fruit from Harris Farm and some scrummy looking organic lunches/dinner by Fit Kitchen when I don't have the time to prepare and cook. It is more expensive but you don't eat as much and if anything, it makes you think more about what you buy and how you use it. Looking forward to it!
PS. Oh yes! I was so close to buying the Green & Black's Hot Chocolate yesterday because my favourite chocolate bar is their Maya Gold. I might pop back there today and buy it. They sell it in Oxfam as well.
PPS. Shauna, "essence of crack"? Bwhahaha, I like it and that must be why LOL. Yep, Maya Gold is orange-y spicy, delish!

Sounds like you're organised with a capital O there Mary. I love love love Harris Farm, esp their yoghurt!! Are those lunches that you bought premade somewhere?? That would be sweet!
Hey chick, you should buy my favourite hot chocolate (if you're into that type of thing) the next time you're in that organic supermarket. (I know the one you mean, I live just down the road!) It's Green and Blacks Organic Hot Chocolate drink, and yes, it's expensive, but is it worth it? Ohhhh YES! LOL! Less kjs than those scary Jarrah things too...I mean, what IS IT they put in them to get them to foam up? S-s-s-s-s-hudder.....
Also have you been to the Organic restuarant up the city end of King St? Think it's called the Peasant's Feast...BEEEEEEEAUTIFUL!
Amazing how a week or so of eating really well will change your body's reactions to things....and what a signal of success when you realise that you don't want/like the junk anymore.
Ooh, I've wanted to try Cranky Bee's favourite hot chocolate for a while, I think I'll have to get it now!
xoxoxo
Sure, organic/fancy shmancy pants food is more expensive, but don't you owe yourself the best?? Yes, yes you do.
It's so clever how quickly the body has protested, it probably wonders wtf is going on after the previous 10 days!
Just read crankybee's comment and I am all go for G & B hot choccie too. It's little granules of what appears to be dried chocolate and it is soooooo delish. I'm the first to admit that $12 a jar is steep, but like wine, shampoo and foundation, you get what you pay for. I also think that by having the best of something means you savour it and need less, case in point, decent cheese over really low fat stuff.
I've not seen the Green & Black hot chocolate. Although it does sound more like a winter thing.
oooh the change! the chaaaange! i am going to have to try this rice milk stuff...
i though G&B's hot choc was the best thing evah but then they had to go bring out G&B's hot choc MAYA GOLD VERSION!!?! orangey chocolately goodness... ooh er...
actually, is maya gold orangey? i can't remember... i had to hide the jar in the back of the pantry for awhile, so addictive. maybe it contains essence of crack!
I'm going to have to try those Fit Kitchen meals, I always have the most crappy food on night shift (unless i can be inspired to leave the office or dragged away from my desk). Tonight I'll have Japanese but next time, I'm heading over to the GNC and getting some stuff. I always forget Glebe and Broadway aren't that far away from me any more.
Hey Mary,
thanks for posting the fit kitchen website-here's me thinking that we over here in Perth would not have anything like that and little did I know one of my local shops sells the fit kitchen food!

The Change Has Begun. Sounds ominous. I hope you synchronise it well with the weather, otherwise you might end up with a funny look on your face for all eternity.
I love how you continue to teach me about all things yummy! Making notes and bookmarking now....
Ooh that detox sounds fabulous! And those meals just made me hungry reading about them. Mmm if only I had $600! Not that I have any excuse not to eat better. I ate only organic food for a year when I lived in London a couple of years ago and I really felt fabulous. I ended up vegetarian as well, as organic meat was so damn expensive! Now I just have to grow more organic veggies in my backyard and I'll be on my way!
Thanks for the Fit Kitchen tip - I am off to buy some tomorrow. Organic, vegetarian & delicious? Who says it aint so?
Cheers gorgeous (enjoy your weekend with missy).
i find it hard not to get stuck in the detox retox detox cycle, the pizza and chocolate will definitely have a negative effect on your system ... actually when you eat dairy for the first time you may have to run to the toilet --sorry babes lol-- ive been toying with the idea of a deep seated detox now for quite a while to heal the system but...there's always a but :)
Congrats on completing your week of detox. Isn't it amazing how great our bodies feel when we eat right, and the one splurge of something unhealthy makes you feel so icky? I ate a chocolate croissant this morning as my once a week splurge, and it made my belly feel so awful, I don't know if it's worth it anymore.
Thanks for your past comments. It meant a lot to me! :)
Really enjoy reading your blog! Congrats on the detox :)It has given me some recipe ideas!
