*WARNING - ANGRY POST - FAT ATTACK*
I am sick to death of all the reports, stories and blatant bullshit that I've been reading lately in regards to the "obesity epidemic" in the media. What new excuse can we come up with now for why we don't do what we all KNOW we should be doing ... eat well and exercise.
I know there are exceptions and real reasons why it's not that simple for some but for the majority, stop being so damn lazy. Get real, take some responsibility. Not everything is your parent's fault, your teacher's fault, the government's fault or just about anyone else but yourself.
I lost 30kg all up now (counting before my WW stats) and I still eat what I want, when I want but in moderation. I also walk, everywhere. You don't have to become an athlete or a fanatical foodie!
Just a little pissed today so I thought it best to get it out of my system. This is my blog and just an opinion. Of course there are so many perspectives and things to take into consideration. It's not black and white and that's probably why it's such a hot topic for debate. I can only base my opinions on my own experience and watching those around me.
Seriously, we have an "obesity epidemic" and how much of the world lives in poverty and die from starvation. Think about it.
Did I think like this before I lost the weight? Yep, but I was in denial.

I can't stand hearing these reports either. I also really can't stand hearing people from medical foundations saying that the solution to the obesity epidemic is not as simple as "Eat Less, Move More". They hate to hear that, probably because it stops people from squandering heaps of money on useless drugs like Xenical. People need to realise there is no magical cure or quick fix. That weight took a long time to come on, it's going to take a while to come back off.
Well, that's been my 2 cents
yep, just something about that word epidemic that really grates. like you could catch it walking down the street. and an epidemic that only the western world could have the luxury of falling 'victim' too.
I totally agree!!
Go you! I get so annoyed with people who complain that eating healthily costs so much money or that they don't have time to exercise - if you can afford takeaways or you can sit around watching telly, you can eat well and exercise - not to mention the money and time you lose if you end up with an obesity related illness.
Well said my dear!!! I had a really hot temperedargument about this a couple of days ago with a colleauge. I've known her for a year and she has around 30 kilos to lose, so she has been telling me that she decided to do something about this and that she will soon reveal her secret. So she came and told me that she will have an operation to get the ballon in her stomach. She asked me my opinion, I told her that the weight she has to lose can be lost without interfering with the normal process of her body. I spoke to her about walking and eating better. And do you know what she told me? "How would you know how it is to lose 30 kilos!"
I told her I've lost 50 and she said Im the exception. I got all fired up.
To cut the story short, I only have to tell you that around 200 people in our organisation know now that once I was 130 kilos! ;)
Love your rant, and I totally agree! Well said my girl :)
