Weigh In - Week 42

Goal Weight: 70kg
Current Weight: 73.7kg
Gain this Week: 1.5kg

Not bad. December was a bit rocky and that gain reflects the whole of December for me (my last weigh in was November 29). So now I've got to go back to the NO JUNK IN THE HOUSE rule and start drinking more water again.

Here is my focus for 2006:
  • continue to stay at goal
  • ditched the morning shift so I have more hours for freelancing/study/life!
  • enrolled in a Sub Editing for Newspapers, Magazines & TV course
  • applied for a role at WW meetings
I think that's quite enough now so we'll see how I go. WW taught me how to plan, make mini goals and reward myself (without food) so it should prove to be another succesful year.

My 8 Week Weight Loss Challenge is to lose 3.7kg. My goal is 70kg. Why, because I don't fit into size 14 (too big) and I don't fit into size 12 well in most stores (a bit tight around hips). Damn it! Yes, I know...I am making myself a slave to fashion but I just want to fit into a decent pair of pants. I am sick of wearing jeans. I figure, as long as I am within the healthy weight range, I can do this.

BTW notice that I am still a size 12-14 after losing around 20kgs? My biggest was size 16 verging on an 18. My weight was spread evenly across my body so when I was losing it, it was not so much a loss in one particular area to make such a dramatic clothing size difference. Does that make sense? Some people lose a dress size every 5kg, I didn't. Another good reason not to compare yourself to others.

I am really looking forward to this year. I am stronger, smarter and fitter than I've ever been and really looking forward to being able to exercise in the morning again too. The best way for me to start my days.

To finish off this entry, Kathryn has asked in her blog "So what are you going to do that's crazy in 2006?"... mmm, I'm still thinking about it but whatever it is, it'll certainly be out of my comfort zone!

Here's to a successful year.

I've never understood the going down a size thing - it's so subjective anyway when clothing sizes vary so much.

I hate that between sizes thing!! I am officially a size 17 at the moment, if such a bloody thing existed!!!

1.5kg gain for a month full of stress is not bad at all!

You are doing really well Mary, and have set some achievable goals for 06.

Well done on minimising what could have turned into a huge gain - especially after all you have been through in December - good for you !!
I hope you have a fantastic 2006.

Cant believe how many of us are up and checking sites already. Mary you are really an inspiration. Your goals are all achievable and you should be able to do them on your head. (I think that's the saying.) Good luck this week.

I'm exactly like you! Because my weight is evenly distributed, I'm still wearing clothes that I wore at my heaviest stage. However, they fit me a hell of a lot better than they used to. I am now a 14-16, before I was a 16-18. My mini-goal (before getting married) is to hit 75 and be back in my healthy weight range. And to be a size 14 all over (still wearing 16's in bras even though my chest has shrunk, hehe).

I like your goals for this year and happy for you that you ditched the early morning shift, that shift is trying on anyone's wellbeing and sanity.

Now I must go and eat something huge and substantial as I'm getting my wisdom tooth pulled in two hours, yikes!

Take care babe!

I have read heaps that you should drop a clothing size every 6 kg, but that certainly doesnt apply to me either!

Your weight goal makes perfect sense! Not about the number, but about how your clothes fit!

Pretty much everyone gained a kg over Christmas, so your gain is not bad at all for such a stressful month.

Good luck with your goals for 2006 :o)

Dont stress about that 1.5kg - its nothing in the big scheme of things. I have lost just over 10kg and I am still fitting into the same clothes I was wearing when I started - mind you the jeans are very loose on me! But when I go into stores to try on size 14's, I have no joy.
My joy comes from knowing that I am making my life better and I am sure you agree with that one!!
Have a great week!

Good luck with your goals for the year!!
Doesn't clothing sizing suck!! You would think that being down to a 'normal size" that clothes would fi like a glove!!

Sounds like your going to have a very productive year ahead. I totally agree about the sizing etc not being the same guage for everyone while losing weight. I too had all my weight pretty evenly spread so even though I've lost 30+kg's I've dropped from a 24-26 to 18-20. It's still 4 sizes but not the 5kg a dress size that everyone expects. Good luck with your new course too. XX
